JUST SO YOU ALL KNOW --

I'm updating my bookmarks in Netscape, since we think that's what's causing the computer to have fits. SOOOO....the good thing for you is that you will probably get to see my bookmarks, as pages here, separated by category. I'm starting with the bottom -- so Zines are coming first, and I'll finish with Art -- in probably a few weeks. I'll do about a category a day, in addition to the regular surf diary type thing that I'm doing here.

Aren't you lucky? You're peeking in my drawers....

And now the 'zines:

Lucky 13 Distro, v. II
Really cool design, but the color will make you see everything kind of orangey-yellow if you stare too long at it.

That said, it's a relatively small collection, but one that's worth it's weight in gold. Eventually, I'm ordering all of these, if I don't already have them. Great, artsy stuff.

What IS a zine?
For any of you who -don't- know, here's a good little article with some links to tell you exactly what this page happens to be about. And what my thing is.

It's obsessively good.

Pander Zine Distro
Pander seems to be the benchmark by which other distros measure themselves. Ericka has -so- many zines and things listed that it's hard NOT to find what you want (and some you didn't know you wanted), and from what I understand, her own personal stuff is downright amazing, too.

There is one problem with this site -- the font size is so dinky that it's like instant eyestrain in a can. The content more than makes up for the time you'll spend hitting the "INCREASE FONT SIZE" button, though.

Pander: How to Get Distroed
I know it seems redundant to have both this page and the one above to the main part of the distro, but this way I can skip right in here and see what ericka's looking for. I love her stuff. The font on this page is also obscenely small for mac-ites, so prepare to have your eyes bombarded.

java turtle
I guess this person used to have a distro. Or used to write a zine. I just keep going back to read it and have kind of lumped her in with zinesters for some reason.

Random Words
Aside from the cool VW bus on the side of the page, there are lots of things pretty impressed about with this one, too. Lots of zines, lots of good ideas, lots of info. She's also going to distro paperdolls soon. How kick ass is that?

Bubble Blow Perzine Distro
Only for perzines, this thing kicks booty. It used to be "creamsicle zine distro", but the owner seems to have changed over to this format now -- and it's all this great bubble-gum-pink that I lovelovelove, too. Zines coming out the wah-zoo with good pricing.

Stickfigure Distro
The design on this page is pretty nifty, but I'm not sure about content. They seem to be mostly about mix tapes, but there -are- some zines here and there. They also have an actual store, I believe in northern california somewhere.

(moment later) Oooh. Just found the list of wholesale 'zines. Good heavens, there's a lot of them. My wallet quivers in anticipation.

I'm Not Really Sure
This place carries only three titles, that I can see. But there's scans of the covers and descriptions of the books, and honestly -- I'd order anything called "a bowl of oatmeal".

Angel Food Zine Distro
This one carries only a few select titles, and it seems that they're in trouble -- after moving the site to a new server, she lost the password and can't update. So....this URL will change. But it's nice for reference, right?

Some Kind of Angel distro
They have, according to the website: zines, zines, and more zines, pamphlets and other assorted paper stuff, 1" buttons, stickers, and soon will have music, too.

I don't ever remember having this much time.

YOUTH IN REVOLT distro
This -so- kicks ass. There's no money involved, only trades. And not just zine-for-zine trades, either.

*swoon, swoon, swoon*

Spectrum Zine Distro
A relative newcomer as far as distros go (but not to the zine scene itself) -- this is a pretty good collection starting to happen. It's still under construction, but she has this great idea that I haven't seen before this that she calls "zine recycling". Send her your old zines, she sends you new ones, and you have the option of getting grab bags for cheap.

Gah....I love a good grab bag.

feeling crafty?
jen lives in Iowa. As one who also used to live around them there parts, I know it affords you some free time. (When your commute is only twenty cars long in rush hour traffic, it cuts down on the ETA.)

Anyway: jen makes some kickass things in her spare time, and she sells them here to fund both her crafty habit and her zine, which, by the way, she also sells on the site, and is quite worth a look. And her prices? Amazingly good. I want some of that soap.

i draw stars listing
This is one of those zines that I really want, but haven't worked up the gumption to order it yet. It's being distributed here by Moon Rocket (see below), and sounds incredibly interesting -- not to mention it looks pretty great.

Moon Rocket Zine Distro
Located in New Zealand, this is one of the better distros out there -- shipping can get pretty ridiculous pretty quick, though, if you're in the US. There are some things here that you can't get elsewhere (at least not easily), so don't knock it until you try it.
