Zoetrope: Online Writer's Workshop
This is so fantastic, I can't even tell you how much I like it without feeling like it's not enough. Join, review five member stories, and you're able to submit one of your own to be reviewed and critiqued. There are resources, peer help -- just a ton of stuff.

And best -- the best stories from the workshops often end up in the magazine. And the magazine kicks booty.

The WELL's Online Writing Awards
There are four categories, with $500 prizes. I'm still thinking about submitting, but I get nervous just thinking about it.

InterText
I picked up this link when I was looking at seriously writing creative non-fiction for a life path. It's an online fiction magazine that's got a vaguely suck-ass design, but pretty reputably good authors who contribute. One of those content-before-eyecandy designs that are satisfying in the way that beef stew is more satisfying than cheesecake.

Both have their place, of course. No life is complete without cheesecake. *ahem*

Epinions
Do stuff, read stuff, listen to stuff, or watch stuff -- then come here and tell the world exactly what you think of it. It's a great sounding board for reviews and an even better place to go and check something out BEFORE you buy it -- to see what other people have thought of it. (If I'd listened to Epinions, I wouldn't have this particularly horrid CD in my collection that I bought against the reviewers' advice, for example.)

Oh, did I mention? You get paid for it. Not much, mind you -- $.01 for each hit on your media reviews, $.03 for each hit on other reviews -- but hey -- they're paying you to spew your mind about things you love or hate. It's like a dream come true for the opinionated.

I'm "moderngypsy" there. I have about 40 reviews posted, with more on the way.

Tales from the Hellmouth
And I quote the site owner, in his FAQ under "what are you looking for?" : "Pretty much anything that reflects upon the delightfully horrific experience that is school. Your story can be about the time you were abused by the entire football team, or when gum was put in your hair, or when you were tripped and dropped your books. Or, your tale could be more simple... not having anyone to sit with at lunch, or the terror of wearing braces. We're flexible, we only ask that you are truthful. If you would like, you may submit your story anonymously."

Man, could I go overboard on -this-.

alt.text
To quote: "Alt Text is an exploration of text and imagery. It is meant to be a two way interaction between the reader and writer, or reader and artist. There are regular episodes that showcase writing and presentation specifically designed for the web."

Anything episodic just gets my undies in a-flutter.

The Leaves Project
She says: " The Leaves Project was borne of one simple thought: that every leaf has an inherent beauty and elegance. I have become fascinated with the colors and textures of leaves. This project is an attempt at capturing just a small portion of the wonder to be found in the natural world."

To that effect, you send in pics of leaves and a story about them. It's pretty interesting, if'n you asked me.
