Visit Montana!
Chances are, on your list of places to see, Montana isn't necessarily a priority. But it's gorgeous. Tough to drive through, despite the lack of a speedlimit, due to its size, but really worth it. You can plan your whole Montana vacation through this site. and see some of the scenery.

Collapse!
Why do civilizations fall? This site, which has a ton of information, is like the best exposition on the topic that I've seen. Very, very cool.

Desteo
Travel, encapsulated. Visit the world without leaving your computer chair. Very, very cool.

Slanguages
Special thanks to Louise for the link -- this is a great site. It's got slang from all over the country and FUN-etic spellings of several foreign languages, including Korean and Russian. It sets my soul a-twittter.

red Envelope
High-scale, upper-crust gifts that will make you wish for a big bank account so you can live more graciously. Good for inspiration, but unless you have unlimited funds, you probably won't be buying. $195 for a robe is a little too far, in my book.

Simple Living Network
Ever wanted to trim down and simplify your complicated life? Here's a ton of resources that can help -- including articles and links and chat/messaging on topics like the step-by-step methods of simplifying, and what to do when you're there. It's a radical departure from the overdriven, consumer culture of the '80's, and can really help you feel more at peace with where you are.

aLibris
If there's ever a book you want that you can't find -- aLibris is where to go. It searches hundreds of book databases from stores all over the country to find the specific book you're looking for, and gives you ordering information. It's the no stone left unturned method of book searching. :)

Vote in this Photo Contest, please!
The wildly-talented Tesserae of "Lantern Waste" has taken a picture of her daughter that she's entered in this photo contest. You can vote every ten minutes, believe it or not, and she really does have one of the better pictures.
Just do a first name search for "tesserae" or a last name search of "commonwealth", and you'll get right to it. :)

Dog of the Day
Oh my. This is one of those "pet owners show off" things, but the animals are so damn cute that you can't help but look. It makes me miss my puppy, though. :)

Coffeehouse News
I haven't had a chance to read through all of this yet, but it's looking favorable for enjoyment. It's subtitled "Writings from the Web", and anything with "coffee" and "writing" in the same sentence makes my heart go a-twitter.

Encyclopedia Cicero
It's owner says that the site was created for one purpose: To catalogue and list all the micronations and artistamp countries (faux postage) that exist currently. You'll be able to browse by name and by allegience -- it's just very very cool. A big project, but worth it.
There are eight countries listed thusfar. Some of them show their artistamp work -- some don't. And many of them wouldn't mind guest artists. How cool. :)

TravelZoo
This -so- kicks ass. A bunch of travel offers, all in one place -- low airfares, hotels, cruises, adventure travel, car rentals -- you just can't get better than what they've got here.

The DADA Server
Come on in and get your DADA Fortune by one of the gifted dadaist psychics. For example, my fortune today was: "There is no one stronger than three pounds an hour."
For your daily dose of surrealism, this is your canary.

Mojam!
This is, they say, the largest calendar of live music on the web. And I believe it.
It's got search capabilities by artist and by city, and you can join the discussion lists, too. You'll never miss that great concert again.

How Stuff Works
Ever wonder how a CD works? How web pages work? What WD-40 stands for? How a light saber works?
This is the place to go to find out. You can even get information on how root beer is made, and what causes flatulence.
Ah, the power of the web.

Haiku for Hire
If you didn't read Siobhan's journal, you missed out. She's deeply passionate and artistic, and I think I had a bit of a crush on her for awhile.
I'm not sure if she has a new journal -- but she does have this site. Just give her a few keywords or a topic, and she'll send you or anyone you know a personally-written haiku. Got to love that. :)

Aerobleu
It seems I'm a little behind on this particular "trend". I saw an article on the creation team for Aerobleu in this month's Communication Arts magazine, and got incredibly excited.
For anyone who doesn't know (and I think I'm in the minority here), a group of people (7 Minutes design team) got together and created this "story", set in the jazz age of the 1940's. Confirmed bachelor, Max, and his parisian bartender love interest, Leslie, travel around through some of the most fabulous locales in this tale -- New York, Havana, Paris.....
The thing is, it's all a marketing thing. There's no novel, no movie, no tv show. It's just a story with merchandising tie-ins -- everything from books from Chronicle Books to dinnerware to jazz posters to clocks from Umbra to stationery sets. It's like movie merchandising without the movie.
What's GOOD about that is that you can fill in the blanks for yourself. The "movie" takes place in your imagination -- it's all about mood and inference, and maaaaaaan, does 7 Minutes know their stuff. I want to do something like this. :)

Holocaust Survivors
This is an important site, if not an easy one to view. It's got actual survivor stories and gritty photos, and a lot of history. Next time some schmuckey tells you that the Holocaust didn't happen, point their browsers this way. (Someone actually -debated- this with me in Portland once. Damn skinhead-wannabes.)

I am a wage whore:
Bella Online
I'm a host and a corporate slut here.
Free Ride is how I pay for my burgeoning book addiction. Well, okay. Continuing book addiction. In two weeks, I've amassed $40 US for it, no less. If you sign up and use "peonyblue" as your referrer, I'll kiss your toes. But only after washing.
